There are a few places in India that can truly be called Shopper's Paradise. janpath in Delhi, kullu market in himachal pradesh, chor bazar(that reminds me of chor bazari song in love aaj kal-simoply awesome) in mumbai,Johari bazar in Jaipur,Park street in kolkatta(i hope i have spelled it right- i know too many kolkattans by now to know that this can be a grave unforgivable mistake),Bara Bazar in shillong and so many others little known but great places..having seen and shopped in all these places and more i was a little less than keen on shopping in Bangalore..mostly because it has a greater mall culture than any other place and the brands u can get in any mall in any place(or so i thought)..but i was more than pleasantly surprised when i actually ventured to explore the city for places where i can shed some of the little cash i had(notice the past tense :P )..
My first sting was needless to say with the much hyped malls of Bengaluru - Forum,Garuda,Central,Lifestyle,Shoppers Stop- i dragged my poor cousin to all of these in a span of 24 hrs and even he got hooked to them at the end and actually shopped more than i did .. as a side note i liked forum the best basically coz it had Landmark(book lovers would know that they can spend their entire life there aka the "young man" in The Bet hopefully without going thru the complete metamorphosis of irreversible detachment..I liked Shoppers Stop next..great prices , cool brands..and a CCD..well enough on malls now, i am sure the elite personage reading this would know more about brands than i ever will(about brand awareness-reminds me to advise u to read how opal mehta got kissed.. vl make u a guru before u reach halfway through it)..
i had this opportunity of visiting the JayaNagar complex, had a pretty good combination of local and international stuff..worth a visit if u have to shop for bags, junk jewellery, casual footwear
and also if u want to experience that special flavour of being in a southern city..the golgappe there are good and do try the ice-gola guaranteed to take your fatigue(from the incessant shopping) away..
For having a taste of the "metropolitan" bangalore a walk through the brigade raod is a must..here u will see it all-immaculately dressed girls(:P),Planet M(only one person can understand y i mentioned it out of a hundread brands on display there),more brands than seen in even all the malls of gurgaon combined,a colorful ambiance, great eateries and prices that can be afforded only when its "Aaj pheli taariq hai"..
Commercial Street is a place to be if u have to do some heavy duty purchasing of clothes..i can bet a year in captivity in landmark that you will be laden will bags before u could cross even one fourth of the street, saaries, kurtis, suit pieces, tops, jeans - u vl get them all in styles u have wanted all along so easily that it actually takes some of the fun out of shopping.. :P.. do worth a visit even if u don't have to shop at all..coz u vl anyways do it..

hi...
nice entry.people would love it.A short and to the point tour guide. And it also have things which a tour guide would never have.Loved the way you described everything.
simply awesome.
:sry for criticising..but Chor bazaar @ Mumbai Suxs bigtym (worse than Katra)..mumbai may be recognised by Colaba causeway or Hill Road as shoppers paradise
I love Landmark at the Forum too...Used to spend hours there looking at books and all...really a book reader's paradise. Planet M on Brigade road...been there a million times, lots of stars go there and perform. It's another place where I can spend hours. Commercial street...another awesome place to shop...hehe. I've been to all the places you mentioned :D
Happy shopping!! :D
One more thing...since you read books, there's another place you should check out...Gangarams on M.G. Road...not as posh as Landmark, but I love the place nonetheless :D
